Ahl-e-Suffa
- In the direction of old Qibla, the build a shed. A roof that provide shade & the place under it would be called as-Suffa.
🎓Ibn 'Hajar says,
"as-Suffa is a place at the back of the Masjid an-Nabwi.
It's shaded & it was prepared for the foreigners. The ones who don't have any family or any place to stay."
🎓Abu Huraira who was one of the Ahl-e-Suffa says,
"Ahle-e-Suffa are the guests of Islam. They are the ones who don't have any family or wealth to fall back on. So they live in this place called as-Suffa."
...Not everyone who lived there was forced to live there because of the condition. Some of the chose. Volunteered to join ahl-e-Suffa. Such as Abu Huraira.
...Because it seems that Abu Huraira did have wealth when he made Hijrah, but he chose to devote his time to studying & therefore he lived with the people of as-Suffa.
🎓He says about himself,
🤯We know that Abu Huraira was in becoming Muslim. So how come He has narrated more 'Hadith than everyone else?
🤯Abu Huraira is Number 1 in terms of narrating 'Hadith compared to all of the other Sa'habah'. How come Abu Huraira knew more 'Hadith than everybody else?
🔬He is giving us an explanation. He is giving us a reason.
🎓Abu Huraira says,
You people say that Abu Huraira tells many narrations from Rasulullah ﷺ & you also wonder
why the emigrants & Ansar do not narrate from Rasulullah ﷺ as Abu Huraira does
My emigrant brothers were busy in the market while I used to stick to Allah's Messenger ﷺ
content with what fills my stomach; so I used to be present when they were absent and I used to remember when they used to forget, and my Ansari brothers used to be busy with their properties and I was one of the poor men of Suffa. I used to remember the narrations when they used to forget.

🤯Because he devoted his life to study, he had time to review the 'Hadith that he would hear from Rasulullah ﷺ. In fact he says about himself that...
💥I split the night into ③ parts. ① Part I would sleep. ① Part I would pray & ① part I would review the 'hadith of Rasulullah ﷺ that I would hear during the day.
🤯While the other Muharijirn & Ansar were busy. They had work to do. The Muhajirin had business & the Ansar had farms. Abu Huraira had nothing to preoccupy from study. So he chose to be among Ahl-e-Suffa so he could go & study with Rasulullah ﷺ full time. - 23:25
🛌How where the people of Ahl-e-Suffa lived?
One source of livelihood for them was the Sadaqat that Rasulullah ﷺ would send to them. When Rasulullah ﷺ would receive Sadaqa'h, he would send it to them.
👑You know about Sadaqa'h that Rasulullah ﷺ would not take any of it because Rasulullah ﷺ didn't accept Sadaqa'h.
👑When He ﷺ would receive a gift, He ﷺ would take some of it & give them the rest.
👑Rasulullah ﷺ would encourage the well of Sa'haba'h to invite them.
🎓One of the Ansar Ya'ish al-Gifari said, "My father was from among the people of Ahl-e-Suffa. Rasulullah ﷺ ordered the Sa'haba'h to invite Ahl-e-Suffa to their houses so they came & everyone of the Sa'haba'h took some of us away until only 5 of us were left. Then Rasulullah ﷺ told us all to go with Him ﷺ to His ﷺ's house & He ﷺ fed us."
👑Rasulullah ﷺ says, "Whoever has enough food for ② people, should take a ③ rd with them & whoever has enough food for ④ people, he should take a ⑤ th or ⑥ th person with him."

🚩Sacrificing generosity was part of Islam from very early on. In fact from Makkah, day ①. Allah ﷻ has revealed Ayath about taking care of the orphans. Taking care of the needy. Being generous towards the guests. All of these are 'Ibadat. That was encouraged from day ①.
🚩We shouldn't think that being a Muslim doesn't demand sacrifice. There is no free ride. If we want Jannah, If we seek to please Allah ﷻ, we've to sacrifice for Allah ﷻ. We've to give & giving was a part of being a Muslim from day ①.
💸 These Sa'haba'h who were inviting others, they were Millionaires.
👑Rasulullah ﷺ said, "If you enough food for ② people, only ② people then take a ③ rd person with you. He told Sa'haba'h to invite others to their houses only when they've enough food for ② people."
An example was Fatima tuz-Zuhra bint Mu'hammad ﷺ, the most beloved of Rasulullah ﷺ. She had to do all of the hard work at home until her hands were becoming injured & course.
💐So 'Ali ibn Abu Talib told her, "Your father ﷺ has received some slaves so go & ask Him ﷺ a servant."
🌹Fatima goes to her father ﷺ & asked for a servant.
🏛️What did Rasulullah ﷺ said to His ﷺ most beloved? What does He ﷺ say to His ﷺ's daughter, whom He ﷺ can't see suffering?
🔥He ﷺ said,
...Arabic... ... ... ...
"In the name of Allah ﷻ, I'm not gonna give you & leave the people of as-Suffa with hungry stomachs. I don't have any money to spend on them. So, I'm gonna sell these slaves & I'm gonna use that money to give it to Ahl-e-Suffa."
🔥Rasulullah ﷺ was giving Ahl-e-Suffa & preventing His ﷺ own daughter Fatima.

🩺Ahl-e-Suffa were very active people in 'Ibadah. These were true Monks. These were the students of knowledge. These were scholars. These were Mujahidin. Many of them became Shuhada.
🎤Examples different groups of Ahl-e-Suffa are...
⚡Scholars among Ahl-e-Suffa:-
🎓Abu Huraira. The most prolific narrator of the 'Hadith of Rasulullah ﷺ.
🎓'Hudaifa ibn al-Yaman. The expert of the 'Hadith al-Fitan. Most of the 'Hadith of the end of time came to us through him.
⚡Shu'hada among Ahl-e-Suffa:-
🗡️Safwan ibn Baida.
🗡️Kharim bin Fatik al-Asdi.
🗡️'Habib bin Saif.
🗡️Salim bin 'Umair.

Ahl-e-Suffa used to try to make a living if they could.
al-Zamakhshari says, "They used to gather or collect the date seeds to crush them then sell them as animal feed."
What was the number of Ahl-e-Suffa?
- The number goes up & down depending on the conditions. But they would average about 70. So we're talking about a huge group of people & they used to live full time in the back of the Masjid an-Nabwi. They were very active in study. Because they were close to the center of learning, al-Masjid an-Nabwi which was the University of Islam. That's why they've narrated a lot of 'Hadith.
🎓Ubaid ibn Samit said,
...Arabic... ... ...
"Rasulullah ﷺ would become busy. So He ﷺ would turn over the new Muslims to us. If a new Muhajir (immigrant) would come to Rasulullah ﷺ & Rasulullah was busy, He ﷺ would send him over to one of us to teach him Qur'an. So Rasulullah ﷺ send to me a man. He stayed with me at home & I would feed him as a member of my own family & then I taught him Qur'an."
...Da'wa to them also involved taking care of these new Muslims who couldn't afford Madina. Because some of them would make Hijra to Madina leaving all of their wealth behind. These could be wealthy people. But they sacrificed everything for Allah ﷻ & they came to Madina. So it's now the responsibility of Muslims to take care of them.
👑Rasulullah ﷺ wanted the Muslim Jama'a (society) to become organized. So He ﷺ appointed representatives over these groups.
🎓Abu Huraira was an 'Arif. 'Arif is someone who would represent his people & would know them to express their needs to the leader. So Abu Huraira was the 'Arif of Ahl-e-Suffa.
👑If Rasulullah ﷺ had any instructions to give Ahl-e-Suffa or He ﷺ wanted to hear their needs, it would occur through their representatives Abu Huraira.
